Virtual commissioning overview

Virtual commissioning is performed to test and refine external hardware and software. For example, you can disable internal communication and map parameters to external signals, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs). You can use Mechatronics Concept Designer integration capabilities to validate that the system requirements have been met.

Virtual commissioning follows a basic sequence: the detailed model is connected to external control software or hardware, internal simulation drivers are disabled in favor of the external signals, and the combined system is run and validated against the original requirements.

After virtual commissioning is complete, you can use the machine design to create a physical prototype.
