Importing and exporting signals
If you need to transfer signals and their data between Mechatronics Concept Designer and SIMIT, STEP7, or TIA Portal, use the Import Signals and Export Signals commands. You can transfer signal data, such as its NX or imported name, I/O type, data type, address, initial value, and comments.
To keep signal names consistent between Mechatronics Concept Designer and external machine controllers, you can use duplicate signal names for global and adapter signals.
Importing signals
You can import the following file types with the corresponding software:
- SIMIT .txt files
- STEP7 .txt files
- TIA Portal .xlsx files
You can continue developing imported signals in Mechatronics Concept Designer. For example, you can change the I/O type of signals after you import them.
Exporting signals
You can export boolean, integer, double word, string, and array signals and their signal data to a .txt or .csv file.
