Create an event-based operation

This example shows how to create an event-based operation for a slider bar that stops once it collides with a collision sensor.

Note: To create this type of operation, you must do the following:

  • Create the proper body types, joints, and actuators.
  • Create a time-based operation to move the slider bar along the guide surface of the turn unit.

Procedure

  1. Choose Home tab → Automation group → Operation.
  2. In the Type group, from the list, select Operation.
  3. In the Physics Object group, select Select Object.
  4. In the graphics window, select the actuator you want to control using the operation. (In this example, the slider speed control actuator is selected.) The parameters of the selected actuator appear in the Runtime Parameter list.
  5. From the Runtime Parameter list, select the check box next to the speed parameter.
  6. In the same row, double-click the Value cell, type a value, and then press Enter. (In this example, a value of 0 is used so the slider stops once the collision occurs.)
  7. In the Condition group, select Select Condition Object.
  8. On the Resource bar or in the Physics Navigator, select the collision sensor created for the slider. An IF condition is created in the Condition list.
  9. In the Condition group, click the Value box in front of the IF condition. The Value box becomes a list.
  10. From the Value list, select True.
  11. In the Name group, type a name for the operation, and then click OK.
