Convert an operation to sequential function logic
This example shows how to export operations from Mechatronics Concept Designer to the SIMATIC STEP7 program. During the export, operations are converted to sequential function logic so they can be used to simulate the SIMATIC STEP7 program using real or virtual PLCs.
Note: To export operations, you must create and link the operations you want to export.
Procedure
- On the Resource bar, click the Sequence Editor tab to display the operations.
- In the Sequence Editor table, create a sequence of operations by dragging the end of one operation to the beginning of another.
- Right-click in the background of the Sequence Editor and choose Export PLCopen XML.
- In the Export PLCopen XML File dialog box, click Browse, locate the folder you want to save to, type a name for the file, and then click OK.
- (Optional) To make it easier to identify the operations in SIMATIC STEP7, select Export with long symbol names.
- Click OK.
- Start SIMATIC STEP7.
- Create a new project.
- Specify a location and a file name.
(This workflow bridges Mechatronics Concept Designer's operation-based logic to SIMATIC STEP7 sequential function charts for virtual commissioning against real or virtual PLCs — see also "Export PLCopen XML" and "Export an operation to a PLCopen XML file and convert it to sequential function logic".)
