Importing and exporting signal mapping connections

If you need to transfer new or updated external signal connections between Mechatronics Concept Designer and MCD Player, or between MCD models, use the Export Signal Mapping Connections and Import Signal Mapping Connections commands.

Transferring between Mechatronics Concept Designer and MCD Player

Since you cannot save changes to signals in MCD Player, you can use the Export Signal Mapping Connections command to transfer your progress to a .csv or .xml file.

You can then use the Import Signal Mapping Connections command to import the updated signal mapping connections to Mechatronics Concept Designer, to reuse the updated signal mappings.

When you import signal connections to Mechatronics Concept Designer, you can access them in the Physics Navigator, in the Signal Connection group. If you make additional changes to the signals in Mechatronics Concept Designer, you can use the same commands to transfer your progress to an external file, and then import the updated signal mapping connections to MCD Player.

You can export specific signal connections, or all the available signal connections.

Note: The exported files contain only signal mapping connections, and do not include the external signal configuration data.

Transferring between Mechatronics Concept Designer models

You can also use these commands to quickly transfer common signal connections between Mechatronics Concept Designer models. For example, you can create a signal map of OPC UA signals to apply emergency stop functionality, and then transfer it to different models for reuse.
