Creating and managing systems engineering models > Creating a logical model > Create a logical

Create a logical

Procedure

  1. Choose Home tab → Systems Engineering group → Logical.

  2. (Optional) To create a child logical, in the Parent Selection group, select a parent logical from the System Navigator.

  3. In the Reference Designation group, select the following:

    • Aspect = Assignment
    • Letter Code = W — Auxiliary Function
  4. In the Logical Information group, specify the following:

    • Name = Sensory Array
    • Description = Limit Switch
  5. (Optional) In the Logical Information group, in the Name box, type a name.

Note: If the function is saved in Teamcenter Integration, the instance name will be stored as a BOM Line attribute.

  6. To add parameters to the logical, do the following:

    1. In the Parameters group, click Add Parameter.
    2. In the Parameters list table, click the Value cell of the parameter you want to add or change.
    3. Type a parameter value, and then press Enter.

Note: If you set Aspect to Product, ECAD parameters are automatically added.

  7. (Optional) To view and edit attributes created with Teamcenter Integration:

    • In the Attributes group, click Teamcenter Classification Attributes.
    • In the Attributes group, click Teamcenter Form Attributes. Only available when the Function and Logical form types are specified in the Customer Defaults dialog box.
  8. Click OK.

Notes on discipline-specific parameters and reference designation

The Reference Designation group (Aspect + Letter Code) is how a logical block gets its IEC 81346–style classification/letter code baked in at creation time. Setting Aspect = Product auto-populates ECAD-specific parameters, illustrating how logical block "discipline" (mechanical, electrical/ECAD, etc.) drives which discipline-specific parameter set gets attached to the block.

Teamcenter-linked attributes (Classification Attributes, Form Attributes) are surfaced directly in the same dialog as native NX parameters, meaning a Teamcenter-authored logical's classification and form data can be viewed/edited without leaving Mechatronics Concept Designer, provided the Function and Logical form types are configured in Customer Defaults.
