Speed Control
If you want to create an actuator that moves a rigid body using speed as the driving parameter, use the Speed Control command. You must apply the speed control actuator to an existing joint so the rigid bodies have a defined axis to move about.
A speed control actuator can be used in many workflows.
You can also apply it to a linear joint, but typically you must develop the model further to stop the motion, such as adding a collision sensor signal to serve as a proximity switch.
Creating more realistic behavior
To create more realistic behavior, you can:
- Apply acceleration and force limitations to the actuator.
- Select an existing Signal to control the force or torque of a speed control actuator.
- Apply a speed control to a Transport Surface to create a conveyor system that signals can control via runtime parameters.
You can also apply a speed control actuator to a dynamic material to control the production of a continuous rigid body, such as a roll of sheet metal unwinding continuously.
