Operation

Use the Operation command to create control elements that can access any object in the mechatronics system. In Mechatronics Concept Designer, you can use operations to access the parameters of any object, such as cam profiles, joints, and constraints. For example, you can use operations to control an actuator's start time, duration, and speed, or to change the size of a dynamic material when a sensor activates.

You can use operations to do the following:

  • Create condition statements to determine when to trigger parameter changes.
  • Change the value of object parameters to the values you set in the operation.
  • Create sequences of operations in the Sequence Editor.
  • Pause a runtime simulation based on a specified event.
  • Activate or deactivate operations during virtual commissioning to test signals in Mechatronics Concept Designer with operations, or externally with mapped signals.
  • Export operations to STEP7, so you can convert them to sequential function logic and test them with virtual or real PLCs.
  • Develop programmable logic using array runtime parameters in conditional statements.
