Add a Local Resource Library from Teamcenter to the Reuse Library

This example shows how to import a Local Resource Library (such as a plant equipment library) from Teamcenter into Designcenter NX's Reuse Library — a concrete illustration of Teamcenter-governed structures (organized via Structure Manager) being pulled into MCD for reuse.

The Local Resource Library is an existing Item Type in Teamcenter used to organize manufacturing resources in a hierarchical structure.

Prerequisites

You must work with Teamcenter Integration for Designcenter NX.

Procedure

1. On the Resource bar, click the Reuse Library tab.

2. In the Folder View panel, right-click the Name column heading or an empty cell and choose Library Management.

3. In the Reuse Library Management dialog box, select the Local Resource Library folder and click Add Library.

4. In the Select Local Resource Library dialog box, search for and select the library you want to add, and click OK.

   For this example, a plant equipment library is selected.

   A new library is created and highlighted in the Reuse Library Management dialog box.

5. To verify the import, open the plant equipment library in Structure Manager to confirm that all the resources of the Local Resource Library are imported to the newly created Designcenter NX reuse library. This is the explicit cross-check point between the Teamcenter-side structure (viewed in Structure Manager) and the resulting Designcenter NX reuse library.

Results

After you add the plant equipment library, you can manage it like any other reuse library:

• Browse the library structure in the Reuse Library navigator.
• Reuse manufacturing resources from the library in your design.
• Select the item revision of the library by right-clicking the root node of the library and choosing Set Revision Rule — this is how you control which Teamcenter revision of the library content is exposed inside MCD.
• Customize the display name of the library using the Descriptive Name customer default.
