Distance Sensor

If you want to monitor and control events based on distance feedback from a sensor to the nearest collision body, use the Distance Sensor command to attach a distance sensor to a rigid body.

You can create an area of detection based on a fixed point or attach it to a moving body. You can scale the output to represent it as a constant, voltage, or current, or you can trim the output. You can use the output as a signal.

If you create a distance sensor with an opening angle that is less than 90 degrees, the sensor outputs additional part information to develop tracking and material-handling processes, including:

  • Angle
  • Color
  • Transparency
  • Reflectivity
